Positive Rapid Antigen Test

Dear family members, 

We have been advised that we have a positive case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at Ocean Mist. A staff member and a resident has tested positive with a rapid antigen test. As a precaution, effective immediately, we are implementing our Outbreak Management Plan. We have actioned the first steps of our outbreak management plan which includes contacting families, notifying the relevant authorities, conducting contact tracing and immediately asking the resident to remain in their rooms/sent staff member home, we can assure you and your loved ones our nursing and management team are taking every precaution to ensure swift infection control measures are implemented and strengthened to reduce transmission and the duration of this outbreak. 

The employee will not return to work until they are well and have met strict conditions set by the Australian Government and the Department of Health. All those in close contact with the positive case have  been isolated/ sent home.  

As you may well be aware COVID-19 primarily causes respiratory illness in humans, and while all types of respiratory viruses can cause sickness in the elderly, COVID-19 is a particularly contagious infection that can cause severe illness and death for vulnerable people. Ocean Mist will have allocated care staff to ensure your loved ones are well looked after. The Government Department of Health, the local Public Health Unit and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission have been updated. They will provide support as needed, including personal protective equipment and additional workforce.  

Ocean Mist management have measures in place in order to contain this virus. Management alongside staff’s main focus is to ensure that we contain this virus, and all residents/staff are safe and kept well informed, along side family members. We can assure you we will be solely focused on your loved ones needs. Lifestyle coordinators focus will be to provide one on one emotional and psychological support.  

Ocean Mist will ensure we keep families regularly updated, via phone/messaging/email system. The home will also welcome all phone calls and will answer any queries or questions on Ocean Mist 5261 6709 contact number. 

If transfer to hospital is required, family will be immediately notified. It is in our best interest to do what is ultimately best for our consumers and maintain their health. Testing and ongoing actions for our residents will be in line with the communicable diseases network Australia (CDMA) National Guidelines.
